IT LOOKS as if Hampshire is about to get its first Tesla garage – and it will be opening in Winchester.
Currently, the unused garage just off the M3 in Easton Lane is plastered in 'Hendy Ford' signs. But an application to replace this has been submitted to Winchester City Council.
The plans are looking to replacing the Ford signage with illuminated Tesla letters. The applicants are also looking to have the company name written at the top of the totem pole.
Tesla is an electric vehicle and clean energy company based in Palo Alto, California.
It specialises in electric vehicle manufacturing, battery energy storage from home to grid scale and, through its acquisition of SolarCity, solar panel and solar roof tile manufacturing.
Tesla had a couple of 'superchargers', which are used to charge the company's electric vehicles, at Sainsbury's Badger Farm a couple of years ago, and there are still some at Norton Park in Sutton Scotney.
