Middletown’s Liberty Bank and a group of volunteer business mentors are resuming the community lender’s comprehensive training program for small businesses.
Starting Sept. 9, the Academy for Small Business offers a 10-class curricula and access to volunteers from the Service Corps of Retired Executives (SCORE) East Hartford. The Academy will assist with the creation and growth of new small businesses in Connecticut.
Enrollment is limited to 20, said Glenn Davis, Liberty’s vice president for community development. Participants do not have to be Liberty customers, rather
entrepreneurs who typically own startup businesses or are interested in the opportunity.
After successfully completing all 10 classes, participating business owners may be eligible for a $5,000 line of credit from Liberty, Davis said.
Liberty says East Hartford is one of several small-business academies the bank has hosted in Connecticut since 2016. Others included Hartford, Meriden, New Britain, New Haven, New London, Norwich, and Windham.
