Brush fire in Paia burns more than 200 acres

HONOLULU, Hawaii (HawaiiNewsNow) - Maui firefighters have contained a brush fire in Paia that burned more than 200 acres on Friday.

Maui firefighters used helicopters and tankers to fight the flames.

Maui County said the fire started mauka of Hana Highway near the Maui Country Club. It was first reported about 8:30 a.m., and moved south through former sugar cane fields.

The fire caused no road closures or evacuations.
