Washington County's new diversity committee to meet Monday

The newly formed Washington County Diversity and Inclusion Committee will meet Monday at the county's downtown Hagerstown administrative complex.

The county commissioners, on Aug. 28, appointed members to the committee.

County Commissioner Wayne Keefer and Board of Education President Melissa Williams are ex-officio members.

The commissioners appointed Art Hicks and ZSun-nee Miller-Matema to full three-year terms through Aug. 31, 2021.

Carlos Reyes, Maria Wentzel, and Precious McDonald were appointed to partial two-year terms through Aug. 31, 2020.

Stephen Beaudoin and Carlos Mellott were appointed to partial one-year terms through Aug. 31, 2019.

The committee is meeting at 5 p.m. Monday in Suite 1101-Room 1115 at the 100 W. Washington St. administrative complex.

Washington County Girls Softball League gets money to help with field repairs

The Washington County Girls Softball League was awarded $1,500 in hotel rental tax revenue to help repair fields at Kemps Mill Park north of Williamsport.

The fields needed repairing because of excess rain and use, which includes other leagues, said Tina Wilson, senior grant manager for the county's grant management office.
