Pedestrian struck, critically injured in Waynesboro

WAYNESBORO, Pa. — A 48-year-old woman was in critical condition Saturday after being struck by a Jeep at the intersection of Third and South Potomac streets in Waynesboro.

Waynesboro Police Chief James Sourbier IV said the woman was taken to WellSpan York Hospital to be treated for her injuries. He said her name would not be released until family was notified.

The woman was struck while walking in the crosswalk around 7:42 a.m. as the Jeep attempted to turn left onto South Potomac Street, according to police.

The roadway was closed for several hours while police investigated the scene.

Police had not yet determined whether the driver of the Jeep, a 17-year-old male, would be cited.

Pennsylvania State Police are assisting Waynesboro police in the investigation.
