DUI checkpoint slated in Jefferson County

DUI checkpoint set Aug. 29 in Jefferson

KEARNEYSVILLE, W.Va. — West Virginia State Police will conduct a sobriety checkpoint Thursday, Aug. 29, from 6 p.m. to midnight in Jefferson County.

The checkpoint will be on W.Va. 51 near Leetown Pike. The secondary location will be in the 8000 block of W.Va. 45 (Martinsburg Pike) near Shepherdstown.

The purpose of the checkpoint is to educate motorists about the effects of driving impaired by alcohol, drugs or both.

Drivers also will be checked for other traffic infractions.

The checkpoint is funded through the Commission on Drunk Driving Prevention.
