MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — Two road-resurfacing projects are planned in the coming weeks in Berkeley County, W.Va., the West Virginia Division of Highways announced Monday.

The projects include:

• Resurfacing of W.Va. 45, also known as Apple Harvest Drive, near U.S. 11, New York Avenue and the entrance to the Lowe’s home-improvement store is slated to begin May 5 and continue through the end of the month, according to a news release from the highways department.

Delays can be expected Sunday to Thursday nights from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., the release said.

The work, which will involve lane closures, includes milling, paving, pavement markings and new signal heads, and is to begin about 0.2 miles west of the U.S. 11 intersection and continue east on W.Va. 45 for nearly a half-mile.

Work also will be completed north and south of the W.Va. 45 intersection with U.S. 11 to resurface that area.

Jefferson Asphalt Products Co. Inc. was awarded the project at a cost of $605,934.98.

Motorists are advised to travel with caution through the work zone.

• Resurfacing of Back Creek Valley Road between W.Va. 45 and Tuscarora Pike is slated to begin Wednesday.

Motorists should anticipate delays between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., with one-lane traffic maintained under the direction of flaggers.

Officials with the highways department said the work should be completed in one week, weather permitting, and motorists should allow extra time to travel through the work zone.
