Rangers legend Ally McCoist was mocked after missing his radio show to appear in court charged with a road traffic offence.

The former Ibrox player and manager has been accused of failing to tell to police who was driving his car when an alleged speeding offence took place on the M74 near Beattock, Dumfriesshire, on January 13 last year.

He appeared in the dock at the Justice of the Peace Court in Dumfries on Thursday meaning he missed his regular slot on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show on Talksport.

Host Brazil, 59, quizzed McCoist about where he had been and joked that his co-host had confessed to him that he was driving at 102mph.

McCoist claimed his trial had been put back because the court was busy dealing with the case of US rapper Playboi Carti, who wrecked his tour bus after a gig in Scotland.
The 56-year-old has pleaded not guilty to the offence and his case was continued until later this month.

He said: "I had a wee court appearance yesterday which unbelievably got called off.

"It's an alleged driving offence which I had to turn up in court for but sadly it's been postponed to a later date.

"The good news is is won't be affecting our shows because it's a Wednesday."

He added: "You'll quite enjoy the fact how the court date was put off.

"There was a US rapper in court in Dumfries called Playboi Carti.

"This lad seemingly wrecked his tour bus. You couldn't make this up.

"The police girl at Dumfries was telling me they had never had such excitement for about 10 years.

"That was the good news but the bad news is I have got to go back."

Carti, a 22-year-old hip hop star, was fined £800 for punching his driver and shattering a window on his luxury tour bus when it broke down on the M74 near Gretna services.

McCoist co-hosts the radio show every Thursday and Friday morning with fellow former Scotland international Brazil.
