As 2018 comes to a close its time to look back on what has been a most eventful year in Herefordshire.

It included concern over the new bypass for Hereford and poignant ceremonies to mark the centenary of the World War I armistice.

The county had it fair share of bad weather, including a mauling from the Beast from the East and a soaking from Storm Callum.

But there were lighter moments too, and plenty of occasions to celebrate.

February: Kings Acre Road's Paula Andrews, Lesley Stephens and Debbie Griffiths were not notified their homes could be demolished to make way for the new bypass

March: The Beast from the East hit Herefordshire, bringing a dramatic start to spring. Here, children on Bladon Crescent, Hereford, make the most of school being closed by building an igloo

April: Hereford FC continued to make history this year as they won a historic third championship title in as many seasons to book a place back in the National League. Their 1-0 victory over Biggleswade Town saw the Bulls top the Evo-Stik Southern Premier as champions

May: Volunteer groups of litter pickers have sprung up around the county this year as people work to keep the county tidy. Holme Lacy Village Social Group, pictured, is one such team that have taken to the streets

June: The Paint Runner returned to Hereford in aid of St Michael's Hospice. Hundreds of runners took to King George V Playing Fields to run the course and get covered in paint, all while raising thousands of pounds for the hospice

July: The dream of Take That superfan Sue Wilde, of Hereford, came true when was she serenaded by lead singer Gary Barlow on stage at the Birmingham Symphony Hall. Susan said of the experience: "I burst into tears, it made my life."

August: Anti-bypass protestors made their feelings known inside and outside of Hereford's Shire Hall as council leaders pushed ahead with the red route as their preferred option for the Hereford bypass

September: Actress and model Elizabeth Hurley is more used to walking down the catwalk but was easily at home at the Bromsberrow Heath Village Shop Fun Dog Show. Her spaniel, Mia, came second in the 'Dog you would most like to take home' category

October: Storm Callum made its mark on Hereford as the River Wye reached a peak of 4.9 metres. The Left Bank shone like a cruise ship as revellers partied on while the site twinkled on the swollen river bank. Photo: Dave Barrett

November: Herefordshire went above and beyond to mark the centenary of the Armistice of World War One. Events took place across the county, with memorials and churches decked out in poppies. On Remembrance Sunday thousands of people packed into Hereford's St Peter's Square at 11am to mark the moment the Armistice was signed 100 years ago

December: Mark Jones celebrated working at Philip Morris & Son in Widemarsh Street, Hereford, for 40 years
