A FARMERS' Market with a difference will launch in Ledbury next month.

Aimed at those who are unable to access traditional daytime markets and the local produce they offer, the new market will be open from 6pm to 8pm on the first Thursday of each month.

Organised by the Ledbury Food Group the evening farmers' market will have plenty on offer, with a bar, music and snacks to eat-in, as well as provisions to take home.

Produce and provisions on offer at the market's opening night on July 4 will include freshly harvested organic vegetables, cakes and savoury pastries baked on the day, meats prepared specially for this market, pork pies, cheeses, charcuterie, chilli products, jams and chutneys, raw milk and ready meals.

Fran Robinson, Chairman of the Group said: “We at the Ledbury Food Group are delighted to be starting a brand new Farmers’ Market in Ledbury, at a time convenient for those who work or have a busy day.

“Farmers’ Markets offer the freshest quality food directly from local farmers and producers with the opportunity to chat to them about their produce.

"Locally produced foods help the environment by reducing food miles, plastic packaging, and support the local economy and our towns and villages. "Biodiversity and sustainability are important to small-scale farmers. They generally use fewer chemicals, preserving hedgerows and wild flowers for birds, insects and animals.

"For an example of sustainability, local organic producer John Davenport uses the UK’s first fully compostable food bags.”

The Thursday Evening Farmers' Market will be held at The Barn in St Katherine's, Ledbury.
