POOR ticket sales have led to the organisers of Prosecco in the Park to cancel the upcoming boutique drink, food and film festival in Hereford.

Due to take place August 16-18 at Bishop’s Meadow, organisers were planning to screen eight film including Bohemian Rhapsody and A Star is Born, as well as an array of Prosecco, Champagne, cocktails, gin and craft beer bars accompanying tasty street food.

Events organiser Matt Bates said they have decided to cancel their final three events this summer in Hereford, Oxford and Chichester, due to uncertainty over how many people would actually turn up.

“It's never a good thing to have to cancel an event, but we have to be honest and realistic with the projected low attendance and our unpredictable British summer hasn't been as we expected”, Mr Bates said.

“We have tried our hardest to launch this great new event in Hereford, Oxford and Chichester but with such low ticket sales leading up to the event, it's clear to see that people are waiting to see what the weather does on the day of the event.

"Naturally this places us in a very vulnerable position; one that isn't healthy for staging a successful event.”

Customers who have booked tickets will receive a full refund.
