NEW magistrates are being sought to work in Hereford.
Staffordshire and West Mercia Advisory Committee is seeking applications from those interested in taking a place on the Herefordshire bench.
An open event will be held at Hereford Magistrates Court from 5.30pm to 7pm next Thursday to allow people who might be interested in the voluntary role to find out more.
Sitting as benches of three, magistrates deal with a range of minor cases including theft and driving offences.
Anyone between 18 and 70 who demonstrates good character, reliability and their commitment to serving the community can apply and no qualifications are needed as training will be given.
Those who are successful in being appointed must be able to attend training and sit in court for at least 13 days a year.
