The bomb squad has been called to a village near St Albans after a suspicious device was found.

Emergency services have rushed to the scene in Roestock Lane, Colney Heath, this afternoon (May 28).

Road closures have been put in place around the area.

The Explosive Ordnance Disposal unit (EOD) have been called to assess the item.

There are a number of cordons in place as a precaution, to ensure the safety of the members of the public.

Members of the public may have to deal with subsequent delays as a result of the road closures and cordons around the area.

It is currently not yet known where or how many cordons have been put in place.

Hertfordshire Constabulary has been approached for a comment.

The EOD attended to assess the device, it was not deemed to be of any risk and the road closures were lifted shortly after 6pm.


“Police were notified of the discovery at around 2.50pm.”
