Louisville commit Zay Peterson transfers from Clayton to IMG Academy

Clayton High School's football team opened the regular season on Friday night at Richmond County and the Comets were without one of the defensive players many were anticipating seeing during the off season.

Zay Peterson, a 6-foot-1 safety who is committed to the University of Louisville, was not dressed for Clayton is not on the team's roster, according to MaxPreps.

Peterson transferred to Clayton in the spring semester and went through off season workouts with the Comets, however he is now enrolled at IMG Academy in Florida.

IMG Academy is ranked the No. 7 high school football team in the nation by USA Today.

Peterson, a member of the Class of 2020, is rated a 3-star prospect by 247Sports.com. When he was in North Carolina, the recruiting website rated him as the 26th best player in the class from the state. He transferred to Clayton from Hartsville High School in South Carolina.

Before he committed to Louisville, Peterson had offers from Akron, Appalachian State, Campbell, Charlotte, Colorado, Colorado State, East Carolina, Georgia State, Liberty, Massachusetts, Middle Tennessee State, Old Dominion, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, Syracuse, Temple, The Citadel, Troy, UCF, and Western Kentucky.
