While this week of conference tournaments has proven how immensely difficult it is to beat the same team three times, Broughton found a way to do just that at Millbrook on Thursday night.

After earning two victories over Southeast Raleigh in the regular season, the Caps beat them again by a 63-59 margin in overtime.

After falling behind 4-0 early, Broughton rattled off a 14-2 run to take control of the game before ultimately leading 14-8 after one.

The Caps built out that lead in the second quarter with a strong defensive effort, as they held the Bulldogs to single digit points for the second quarter in a row and took a 26-17 lead into the halftime break.

Tynias Peace had 10 points for Broughton to pace his team in the first half.

Southeast pushed its way back into the game with a dynamite offensive performance in the third quarter.

With Broughton switching into more of a zone look, the Bulldogs found success to the tune of a 19-point quarter.

Trailing by just three entering the fourth, Southeast inched closer and closer, ultimately being able to get the game tied up.

The Bulldogs had the ball with the game tied and the opportunity to win in regulation, but they were called for a travel.

D.J. Thomas was the biggest reason Broughton was able to avoid losing in regulation, as he scored nine points in the fourth quarter, while nobody else for the Capitals made a field goal.

Thomas was strong again in overtime, with a crucial three-point play, while Penn Sealey added a three-pointer to help put the game on ice.

With the win, Broughton will return home for the conference championship game where they'll be met by Leesville Road, another team they swept in the regular season.
