The Chandigarh electricity department generates bimonthly bills for domestic consumers. The hiked FPPCA charges, which will be collected in the next bill, are for the first quarter of this financial year: April to June 2018.

The charges range from 14 paise per unit to 61 paise per unit over and above the existing rates being levied on consumers.

Chandigarh superintending engineer MP Singh said: “It has been done to recover the difference from consumers as we are running in losses.”
