Incumbent UT DGP Tajender Singh Luthra has been transferred to Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (GNCTD). He joined as UT DGP on February 17, 2016.

Speaking to HT, Bainiwal said, “I have seen the city as a citizen, but now I will see it as a police officer. I’m looking forward to it.”

“I have always liked a walk in the parks of Chandigarh and have very fond memories of the city. I just love the Sukhna lake and nearby hills,” he shared.

Bainiwal refused to comment on his date of joining as he was yet to get relieving orders from officials concerned.
