Sanjay Bainiwal to be new Chandigarh DGP
Bainiwal is a 1989-batch Arunachal Pradesh-Goa-Mizoram and Union Territory (AGMUT) officer, currently serving in Delhi.
Sanjay Bainiwal, a 1989-batch Arunachal Pradesh-Goa-Mizoram and Union Territory (AGMUT) officer, has been appointed the new Chandigarh director general of police (DGP).
The transfer was approved by the Union ministry of home affairs during a recent meeting, and the order was passed on June 14. Bainiwal is currently posted in Delhi where he was special commissioner, women safety, modernisation and communications.
Incumbent UT DGP Tajender Singh Luthra has been transferred to Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (GNCTD). He joined as UT DGP on February 17, 2016.
Speaking to HT, Bainiwal said, “I have seen the city as a citizen, but now I will see it as a police officer. I’m looking forward to it.”
“I have always liked a walk in the parks of Chandigarh and have very fond memories of the city. I just love the Sukhna lake and nearby hills,” he shared.
Bainiwal refused to comment on his date of joining as he was yet to get relieving orders from officials concerned.
