Report: Cedric Soares set for Southampton return, Inter not keen on permanent deal

According to a report from Italian media outlet Calcio Mercato, Cedric Soares is likely to return to Southampton at the end of the season, rather than turn his loan move to Inter Milan into a permanent one.

The 27-year-old left the Saints to join Inter on loan last month, and the Italian giants have an option to buy the full-back for £9.5 million in the summer, according to a report from BBC Sport.

Cedric has made just four appearances in all competitions for Inter, and he has been less than impressive, with Italian publication Calcio Mercato branding the defender as a ‘flop’.

Yan Valery has performed admirably since the Portuguese ace left Southampton, so it could be argued that Ralph Hasenhüttl doesn’t actually need the 27-year-old back at St Mary’s.

There is still a long way to go between now and the end of the season, however, so a lot can change, but as things stand, it seems as though Cedric will be returning to Southampton in the summer, rather than leaving on a permanent basis.
