Leeds United have announced that the tally of season ticket renewals has now surpassed the 16,000 mark – over 70 percent of current holders, with thousands more reportedly expected to sign up next week.

Just over three weeks ago, the Whites had gone past the 6,000 mark, and there is still one week to go for supporters to renew, the club having taken the decision last month to apply a price freeze on tickets as well as a new 16-18 price point.

In their latest update, the Championship club declared the fans’ support “outstanding”, with chief executive Angus Kinnear saying: “We are pleased, but not surprised by the reaction to Season Tickets from our supporters… the support we have received has been first class and we look forward to that continuing next term.”

Leeds have enjoyed an average attendance of over 33,000 for home games during the campaign so far, plus plentiful away contingents, and with a real possibility of earning promotion to the Premier League plus next season being the club’s centenary campaign, those figures will most likely not be going down any time soon.

The Whites also posted a video on their Twitter feed which showed clips of key moments from the season interspersed with players thanking the fans:
