The Lyon ace would be a superb addition for Liverpool.
According to a report from French media outlet Le 10 Sport, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is desperate to bring Lyon midfield ace Houssem Aouar to Anfield this summer, and the 20-year-old would be a truly exceptional signing for the Reds.
Liverpool currently have plenty of options in the middle of the park, but they do seem to lack someone who is comfortable in possession and has passing skills that can unlock the opposition.
And Aouar would be just the ticket for Liverpool.
The France under-21 international possesses truly exceptional technique, and has the ability to dictate the tempo of a game from a deep-lying midfield position, or in a more orthodox central midfield role.
He has also proved this season that he can influence matters in the final third for his team, with seven goals and eight assists in 42 appearances in all competitions to his name.
According to Italian media outlet Calcio Mercato, Lyon value Aouar at around €60 million (£52 million), and in today’s market, that would surely have to be considered as excellent value for money for Liverpool.
The 20-year-old would be the perfect accompaniment for Gini Wijnaldum and Fabinho at Anfield, and he could be the signing that absolutely completes the Reds as a football team.
Aouar will be hot property this summer, so Liverpool will need to pull out all the stops to bring him to Merseyside, and if they are successful in doing just that, it could turn out to be a signing of real significance for the club.
