Why Leeds United should move for Sunderland goalkeeper Jon McLaughlin

Sunderland goalkeeper Jon McLaughlin would be a good signing for Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United in the summer transfer window.

Leeds United could be looking for a new goalkeeper in the summer transfer window, and Sunderland star Jon McLaughlin has to be on their radar.

Bailey Peacock-Farrell recently suggested to Sky Sports that he could leave Leeds in the summer transfer window due to lack of playing time, while The Yorkshire Evening Post has suggested that the Championship club are open to listening to offers for Kiko Casilla.

While it is hard to see Leeds part company with their top two goalkeepers this summer, Marcelo Bielsa’s side could well be in need of bringing in at least one player between the posts, and Sunderland ace McLaughlin would be a smart signing.

The 31-year-old was one of the best players for the Black Cats this past season and was key to Jack Ross’s side reaching the League One playoffs.

The Scotland international did not get fazed playing in front of the Stadium of Light faithful, and he looked assured between the posts even when under pressure.

With Sunderland having suffered playoff disappointment and set to remain in League One next season, Leeds should make a move and lure the goalkeeper to Elland Road.
