Losing Adam Forshaw and Kalvin Phillips might hurt Leeds

First it was Kalvin Phillips, but Leeds United might now have to worry about losing another big-name midfielder.

According to The Daily Mail, Fulham want to sign Leeds’ Adam Forshaw.

The Cottagers were relegated from the Premier League last season, and they might want Forshaw, a £4.5 million signing by the Elland Road club 18 months ago [The Mail], to help them return next time around.

In a week which has seen Phillips linked with a £14 million move to Aston Villa [The Telegraph], losing both could hurt United in a major way – and boss Marcelo Bielsa.

Bielsa is a big fan of Phillips – and for good reason. Whether he plays in holding midfield or central defence, the 23-year-old is a huge player for the Whites.

But he is also a big fan of the Liverpudlian midfielder, telling The Yorkshire Evening Post in January that Forshaw was one of United’s best players. Bielsa likes Forshaw so much, in fact, that he often played Phillips as a centre-back to accommodate the former Middlesbrough man in midfield, much to the annoyance of fans at times.

And there’s just no way that the 63-year-old wouldn’t be upset if two rocks were sold out from under him.

It’s plausible that Bielsa wouldn’t have continued in West Yorkshire without guarantees that his best players wouldn’t be sold, and it could be a worry if Phillips and Forshaw, two men he rates highly, are offloaded.
