Wolverhampton Wanderers youngster Connor Ronan gets international recognition as part of Republic of Ireland U21s

The Wolves and Ireland ace has had a superb 2019 so far.

Wolverhampton Wanderers youngster Connor Ronan has come a long way over the past year, putting aside his disappointing loan spell at Walsall to become a fan favourite at Slovakian Fortuna Liga outfit DAC Dunajska Streda.

The Republic of Ireland Under-21 midfielder made 14 club appearances and helped Dunajska secure a spot in the Europa League by finishing second in the championship round standings behind Slovan Bratislava (Soccerway).

Ronan was set to be out of contract at Wolves in the summer but, in May, he signed a new deal with the Premier League club which keeps him at Molineux until the summer of 2021, testament to how much he has progressed.

Indeed, the 21-year-old was praised by Wanderers loans manager Seyi Olofinjana for having taken the plunge in playing overseas, telling the official website: “Connor Ronan is a great example. He’s now in Slovakia and playing 90 minutes every week, winning man of the match awards and it’s working well for him.”

On top of that, Ronan is impressing at international level, being named as one of three MVPs in the third round of the Tournoi Maurice Revello – formerly known as the Toulon Tournament:

With such progress having been made for club and country since the start of the year, not to mention his future no longer being in doubt, it will be interesting to see what the future holds for Ronan at Wolves and also within the Ireland setup.
