Report: Wolves, Southampton and Watford competing for £10m bargain deal

Mohammed Salisu of Real Valladolid CF looks on during the Liga match between Athletic Club and Real Valladolid CF at San Mames Stadium on October 2…

Mohammed Salisu could be on his way to England with Wolverhampton Wanderers and Southampton showing an interest in the Real Valladolid defender, according to El Desmarque.

Considering that top-class centre-backs are rare these days, the sheer level of interest in this promising Ghanaian should come as no surprise.

Especially when you consider that Salisu has a £10 million release clause in his contract – a bargain by anyone’s standards.

Powerful, quick and blessed with maturity well beyond his 21 years, it is easy to forget that Salisu has only been playing first-team football for 12 months. The Accra-born giant has risen through the ranks at Valladolid and made his senior debut as recently as August.

And it speaks volumes about his potential that a host of clubs are already sniffing around.

El Desmarque claim that Wolves have identified Salisu another rising star capable of going from strength to strength alongside Diogo Jota, Ruben Neves and more at Molineux.

Southampton, meanwhile, have the Premier League’s joint-third worst defence and this 6ft 3ins giant could, on paper at least, forge a superb partnership with Jack Stephens for years to come.

Reports in Spain suggest that Nigel Pearson’s Watford could make a move too. So this is one to keep an eye on.
