A Sunday newspaper which is set to close this weekend suffered an 18pc year-on-year drop in circulation, today’s ABC figures have revealed.
HTFP reported last week how the Sunday Herald will cease publication this Sunday after 19 years in print, with owner Newsquest announcing the launch of two new Glasgow-based Sunday titles – The Herald on Sunday and the Sunday National – in its place.
The Herald was one of just three non-daily newspapers to submit figures for the June-end ABCs, with almost all UK weeklies now opting for once-a-year reporting each February.
Its circulation stood at 16,345 over the period, an 18pc year-on-year decline.
Belfast’s Sunday Life also submitted figures, with a circulation of 31,595 representing an 11pc decrease.
Newsquest’s free weekly the Burnley Star, which was launched in March, submitted its first figures, recording a circulation of 9,930.
