AJ Capital Partners has completed the Graduate Annapolis in Maryland, in partnership with the brand’s in-house design team. Located in the heart of the Annapolis Arts District, the 216-key concept features a coastal-inspired aesthetic throughout, such as the installation of maritime signal flags at its entrance.
Alongside hundreds of nautical, vintage art reproductions are custom-made furniture and accessorizes lined with plaid and deep hues of navy and red. Other localized design considerations abound in the form of sailing knot wallpaper, braised wood columns, and brass banding, reminiscent of traditional wooden ship barrels. In addition, the spacious, four-story atrium of the lobby is adorned with carpeting depicting the rotunda of the Bancroft Hall, the famous naval academy of the city.
All accommodations of the hotel embrace preppy madras patterns wrapping the headboards while complementing the vibrant striped wallpaper. Red, blue, and green tones inside recall the Maryland Blue Carb, as the Naval Academy is once again referenced with gold curtains and custom lamps in the form of the mascot, Bill the Goat.
In addition to brand signatures like the Poindexter coffee in the lobby, Graduate Annapolis will also unveil the Camp Severn Shore, a forthcoming indoor-outdoor seafood concept which will showcase a vintage maritime design detailed with references to the Chesapeake Bay.
