My Place breaks ground in Carson City, Nev.

My Place Hotels of America broke ground on an upcoming Carson City location it expects will open this August. Following the debut of My Place Hotel-North Las Vegas last year, the new three-story, 64-unit property will mark the chain’s second Nevada location.

The hotel’s owners and management team held a groundbreaking ceremony at the property site on March 29. Other attendees included Carson City Mayor Bob Cromwell, Amy Sutherland from Carson Tahoe Health Community Foundation, representatives from the community and the Carson City Culture & Tourism Association.

The property is adjacent to the Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center and a short car ride from the Nevada State Capitol and Western Nevada College. According to My Place Hotels, the upcoming location will signify the area’s first new hotel in more than 10 years and its first extended-stay lodging option.

Terry Kline, My Place Hotels’ EVP/franchise development, noted the new property would be able to accommodate a "diverse customer base," including visitors to the nearby medical center, state capital and weekend tourists coming to Carson City.
