Little Rock man killed when ATV overturns

A Little Rock man was killed and a Benton woman was injured early Sunday morning when their ATV struck a pothole on Cordell Road in Crystal Springs, according to a preliminary fatal crash summary released by the Arkansas State Police later in the day.

The report said William C. Childers, 37, of Little Rock, was southbound on Cordell at around 2:56 a.m. on a 2016 Honda 500 ATV when he struck a “large pothole” while negotiating a curve, causing him to lose control of the ATV, which overturned. Childers and his passenger, Ashley Harris, 37, of Benton, were thrown from the ATV, which came to rest upright in a ditch on the west side of the roadway.

Harris, who was injured, was taken to CHI St. Vincent Hot Springs. The report does not state her condition. Childers was taken to Roller-Drummond Funeral Home in Little Rock.

The report notes that weather conditions were clear and the roadway was dry at the time of the wreck.
