Fans of Grand Designs now have a reason to invite Kevin McCloud over for afternoon tea, because a two-bedroom folly which recently featured on the programme is up for sale.

The Grade II listed folly was never intended to be a family home. It was originally built in 1796 to house local landowner Sir John Vanhattem’s fossil and ammonite collection. In fact, many of the gems were worked into the limestone and red brick exterior of the building.

Spanish architect Jaime Fernandez and his wife Mimi fell in love with the folly. They fully renovated and meticulously restored it into a two bedroom home laid out over three octagonal floors, sharing their journey with McCloud.

Now they've decided to sell the very special property. Charm and character abounds with plenty of period features, including exposed stone and brickwork and high ceilings, combined with thoroughly modern luxuries like underfloor heating, a gas range cooker set into the fireplace, ensuite bathrooms and double glazing.

There's also a roof terrace with 360 views of the Buckinghamshire countryside. Perfect for entertaining guests.

The folly is on the market for £850,000 with agents Hamptons International via Zoopla.
