Lorraine Kelly sits on a sofa (well, a rather comfy armchair) for her day job, but it turns out it’s her favourite spot at home, too.

'My favourite piece of furniture has to be my sofa,' says the TV presenter, who hosts her TV show, Lorraine, on weekday mornings. 'I know I spend a lot of my time sitting on a sofa for work, but it truly is the heart of the home. You spend so much time there-chatting with friends, watching TV or movies. A really comfortable sofa and lots of cushions, which you can never have too many of, is so important to me.'

Lorraine talks about her recent house move from Dundee to Buckinghamshire to mark her new spring advertising campaign with Wayfair as their brand ambassador, in which she's joined by her border terrier Angus to promote the company's affordable home furnishings range.

'To me, home means comfort, family and feeling relaxed,' says Lorraine, who downsized with her cameraman husband Steve Smith after their daughter Rosie flew the nest. 'It’s somewhere where you can just breath out, cosy up and feel safe and happy.

'Our new house is much smaller than where we lived in Dundee, so we had to do a lot of downsizing and get rid of quite a lot of furniture and bits and bobs. The space is very light and airy and situated right on the river so we’ve incorporated a lot of blues and greys into the décor, but it’s still very cosy!'

Lorraine’s partnership with Wayfair is in its third year.

Lorraine admits that she doesn’t have an expert eye for interior design but she definitely likes to create quirky touches in her home. 'A home should really reflect your life and where you’ve been,' she explains. 'Steve and I have loads of old books that we’ve collected throughout the years and photographs from our travels that mean a lot to me. It’s very special for me to have those personal touches.

'We really wanted our new home to show off who we are and what we love, and I’m always after things that are quite affordable whilst still being current and stylish.'

And despite the sofa being Lorraine’s most prized possession, the kitchen is the social hub of her home. 'My favourite room in the house is the kitchen, as it’s where my family comes together,’ she explains. ‘One of the best things is that my husband, Steve, does all of the cooking. I’m not the best at putting a meal together, but I do my fair share with the tidying up!

'I love to sit with him while he preps a meal, have a chat and hear about his day, our wee dog Angus is running around – it’s just lovely. I always find when people come to see us that everyone always ends up in the kitchen, it’s where we feel the most comfortable.'
