Retail Roundup: Kate Hudson Makes Her Houston Store Debut

Plus, Miron Crosby luxe cowboy boots stride into Rice Village and more Galleria tenants to come in 2020.

2019 was a banner year for the ol' Galleria, which welcomed 17 new tenants to 5085 Westheimer and saw the renovation or relocation of more than 10 others. The momentum continues into the new decade, with the recent announcement of four new stores joining the ranks, including some Texas—and Houston—firsts.

Miron Crosby

But first, a pop-up: Dallas-based, sister-owned luxury cowboy boot purveyor Miron Crosby is taking things down to H-Town this week with a Rice Village residency at Mi Golondrina—itself a (long-term) pop-up of another beloved Dallas-based brand. Miron Crosby will pop up in the 2,500-square-foot space, called the Houston Hacienda, from Wednesday, Jan 29 through Friday, Jan 31 from 10 a.m.–5 p.m. each day. Shop the latest handmade styles—like the colorful Cristina—which just happen to pair perfectly with Mi Golondrina's Mexican-inspired dresses, and sip on some signature Ranch Water while you're at it.

Fabletics

Actress Kate Hudson's popular athleisure brand will make its Houston debut this year with a 2,750-square-foot store on Level 1 of the Galleria (near Macy's). Known for its subscription-service model for trendy activewear, the digital-first brand will also sell items a la carte, such as yoga pants, leggings, joggers, tops, and tees in this forthcoming store. Perhaps the increased availability of cute matching workout sets will inspire us to actually hit the gym in an effort to look like Hudson's bikini-clad character on the poster for Fool's Gold ...

Gianvito Rossi

The luxury Italian footwear brand has chosen the Galleria for its first Texas boutique, to open this spring on Level 1 near Neiman Marcus. Since launching his first women's collection for Spring/Summer 2007, Rossi has developed a cult following of celebrities and trend-setters alike—Kate Middleton famously owns five pairs of the classic "105" pump—and has earned a reputation for his elegant, understated designs.

Golden Goose

The ultra-cool Italian fashion house founded in 2000 is bringing Venice to Texas with its first Houston boutique, also opening this spring on Level 1 of the Galleria. From biker jackets to leopard-print kicks, the brand's creative, ready-to-wear accessories and shoes feel both modern and vintage, like the kind of thrift shop finds you can only dream of.

Akris

Last but not least, this long-standing luxury Swiss label will add a Galleria location (also on Level 1) this spring, bringing creative director Albert Kriemler's sleek, tailored pieces to the Houston masses. The third-generation family-owned fashion house was founded in 1922 in St. Gallen, Switzerland, and has become known for its innovative techniques in everything from traditional embroidery to digital photo printing. The iconic, trapezoidal "Ai" bag (which now comes in micro form, of course) is perhaps the label's best-known silhouette, and a favorite of celebrities like Sarah Jessica Parker and Katie Holmes.
