78 °FFormer and current students of Texas A&M University will honor former President George H.W. Bush and First Lady Barbara Bush Monday night at the school’s annual ‘Muster’ ceremony.
The event honors Aggies who passed away within the past year with a “Roll Call for the Absent.” Names on the roll are read aloud, to which attendees respond, “Here.” A candle is also lit for each name.
Although George and Barbara Bush did not attend Texas A&M as students, the school will include their names on the list due to their regular presence at the university. Texas A&M’s College Station campus is home to the George H.W. Bush Presidential Library Center and The Bush School of Government and Public Service.
The former president and first lady were buried on the grounds of the library in 2018.
Muster is traditionally held on April 21. The school opted for a one-time date change to April 22 to accommodate the Easter holiday.
