The Cheryl Miller Award Watch List was released and Northern Illinois forward Courtney Woods saw her name on it for the second time in two years. After garnering First Team All-MAC honors, she was injured after 7 games last season. In the old world, it would be easy to see a player from our beloved conference get left off such a list after spending much of last season injured. However, a new day is dawning, and the conference is making noise.

The conference is making noise based of the spectacular play of talented players like Woods. The 6’ forward had a stellar 2017-18 season, averaging 22.1 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 3.3 assists. She was on her way to similar numbers last season before being derailed with injuries.

Three of the five position awards have named their watch lists for this upcoming season, and 3 MAC stars have been represented. The conference has been motoring along the past few seasons, and based on preseason hype, there is no reason to think that the good times wont continue to roll.
