Meghan Markle gave Kate Middleton an unusual and dull gift.

According to Milly Haddrick of New Idea, the Duchess of Sussex might have offended the Duchess of Cambridge by giving her a present that was more fitting for herself. It had been reported that Markle gave Middleton a leather-bound dream journal for her birthday in 2017, which didn’t go down well for some reasons.

According to royal commentator Martha Ross, Markle assumed that Middleton shared the same interest as her in journal writing.

“Markle seems to assume that Middleton cares about wanting a better understanding of her emotions, stresses, victories and mental well-being,” Ross said.

“But what if Middleton isn’t an inner-search kind of gal? Maybe she’s fine with life as it is. And, why should any of us think otherwise?” Ross continued.

“She’s married to a man who clearly adores her, and he is going to be King of England one day. She also has three adorable children, great clothes and hair, and lives in a Palace. What is there for her to ‘dream’ about? What is there to ‘stress’ about?”

In the podcast “In the Limelight,” Vanity Fair writers Josh Duboff and Julie Miller said that the gift was rather questionable since it is something she would rather buy for herself. Royal correspondent Polly Hudson was dismissive of the gift because while it seemed like a treat, it was actually additional “work.”

“The only way [the gift] could be more dull is if she had to document other people’s dreams, because there’s nothing on Earth more boring than them,” she said.

Middleton and Markle were last seen together at a polo match when the showed support to their husbands Prince William and Prince Harry, respectively. Princess Diana and Prince Charles’ sons played in competing games with the Duke of Cambridge snatching the victory after the game.

According to body language expert Judi James, Middleton looked happy and mindful during the outing. She was seen playing with her kids. On the other hand, Markle appeared anxious as she carried Archie while waiting for Prince Harry.
