8 Maharashtra Beaches To Get Shacks Soon, Ab Goa Vibes Dur Nahi

Admit it guys! After three months of no travel, you already have a Goa vacay planned. All you are waiting for is the pandemic to get under control, and take off to your all-time-favourite holiday destination. In fact, Goa has also opened up to tourists. Travellers are either expected to bring a COVID-19 negative certificate issued by an ICMR-approved lab or get tested at the state border. But then, given the risks involved in travelling are you willing to go all the way to Goa which is most likely to be crowded?

Well, we have some good news for Mumbaikars. How about we tell you that Goa-style beach shacks are soon to come up in Maharashtra? Yes, you read that right! In order to boost tourism, the Maharashtra cabinet has come up with a plan where eight beaches in the state will have shacks similar to Goa.

According to a statement issued by the Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray’s office, 10 shacks each will be set up at Varsoli and Diveagar in Raigad, Aareware beach in Ratnagiri, Palghar's Kelva, Tarkarli in Sindhudurg, and other Bordi beaches. Needless to say, travelling by road within Maharashtra will cut down on the long hours of travel and you won’t have to ask for extra leaves as well. You can easily plan a mini- weekend getaway!

However, unlike Goa, these shacks will not be operational till wee hours. The statement released mentioned, “Beach shacks can function from 7 am to 7 pm and they will all be equipped with CCTV cameras”. It also stated that shacks can only come up in areas approved by the tourism directorate with permits from the state coastal area management authority and priority will be given to locals. Also, the allocation of shacks will be for three years, and locals will be given preference for 80 percent of the jobs.

While many places in Mumbai like Bhayander, Mira Road and Gorai already have beaches which give you the perfect Goa vibes, these shacks will make them even better. So where do you plan to head for the Goa experience? Tarkarli or Bordi? Or Diveagar? Let us know in the comments section below.
