The first images of a proposed new mixed retail and leisure complex in Enniskillen have emerged.

The proposal, which includes a 65 room hotel and a five screen cinema complex, is proposed to be located on the old Unipork site.

A public exhibition is taking place today (Tuesday) between 2pm and 8pm at Enniskillen Library.

At present it is known that along with the hotel and cinema plans for the development also include six retail units, two garden centres, a coffee pod, restaurant and drive through, self-service pay and pump station and 695 car parking spaces.

The public exhibition is being organised by the planning consultants, Inaltus Limited, who are based in Belfast.

The exhibition does not relate to a planning application and in a notice in this newspaper two weeks ago it stated that “if a planning application is subsequently submitted to Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, normal neighbour notification and publicity will be undertaken at that time and you will have the opportunity to make formal representation regarding the proposal at that time”.

Unipork, which was first opened in 1966, closed in April 2000 with reports at the time estimating 200 job losses.
