Top Beaches of Daman And Diu That Make For a Tranquil Getaway

From Devka to Nagoa, the beaches in Daman and Diu are a traveller's delight.

For those who wish to see a little bit of Portugal in India, there’s no better place than Daman and Diu. That’s because the Portuguese ruled over the union territory of Daman and Diu for about 450 years; leaving a rather indelible impression on the infrastructure here. The two districts of Daman and Diu are roughly 198 kilometres from each other. These former Portuguese colonies have some of the most architecturally stunning buildings and monuments, though what takes the cake are the serene beaches.

Jampore Beach

Located south of Moti Daman, Jampore beach is ideal for swimming, courtesy the low tides and calm waters. The casuarinas growing on the beach offer ample shade for day-time picnics. Also, it’s great for indulging in water sports such as jet skiing, motor-boat ride, parasailing, quad-biking and sand-biking.

Devka Beach

Since this one’s a rocky beach, swimming here is not recommended. However, if you wish to take a stroll on the evening or catch a cocktail-coloured sunset, Devka is your best best. The highlight of the beach are its attractions: there’s an amusement park and a musical fountain in the vicinity worth a visit. Also, there are stalls serving some lip-smacking delicacies that are worth a shot as well.

Nagoa Beach

Carved in the shape of a horse-shoe, Nagoa beach is fringed with palm trees that lend it a serene vibe. The white sands and the calm blue waters of this beach are perfect for anybody looking for an unadulterated beach experience. Arguably the best in Daman and Diu, you can play a game of volleyball here or just soak up the sun with a drink in hand.

Ghoghla Beach

The undulating golden sand of this beach stretches into the horizon and meets the Arabian Sea right at the edge. It’s a perfect beach for indulging in activities like sun-bathing and water sports like swimming, parasailing and surfing.
