Interim Union Finance Minister Piyush Goyal on Friday announced that the government will set up an All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Haryana. This would be 22nd AIIMS which will be set up in the country.

The announcement was made by Piyush Goyal while presenting the Modi government's budget for 2019-20 before the 2019 Lok Sabha polls.

While presenting the Budget speech, Piyush Goyal said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at the Centre launched the world's largest healthcare programme - Ayushman Bharat.

"Ayushman Bharat the world's largest healthcare programme was launched to provide medical care to almost 50 crore people, resulting in 3,000 crore savings by poor families," Piyush Goyal said.

"Twenty-one AIIMS are currently operating or being established. Fourteen of these AIIMS have started after the BJP government came to power. 22nd AIIMS will be in Haryana."
