Assam police commando stabbed to death by unidentified men

An Assam police commando was stabbed to death by a group of unidentified men after he got into a spat with them at Makum in eastern Assam's Tinsukia district.

The incident occurred on Sunday night when Girish Dutta, the deceased police trainer, was returning home from a cultural programme in Tingrai, according to local media reports.

When Girish Dutta was returning to his home in Ashok Nagar from Tingrai, he got into a heated argument with a group of unidentified people over an accident on NH-38, reported local media quoting investigating officers.

While he left the spot after the incident, the unidentified group of men followed Dutta to his home, dragged him out and stabbed him to death on the road in front of his father.

According to locals who witnessed the crime, the murderers used a sharp weapon to stab Girish repeatedly despite his father's plea to spare his life.

The incident has sparked massive outrage among the locals of Makum area who have been protesting since the incident took place. On Monday morning, the locals blocked the NH-38 highway and asked the police to immediately arrest the culprits.

A case has already been registered at the Makum Police Station and investigations are on the way to nab the perpetrators.
