People had found her lying unconscious on the road and informed the police. She underwent surgery and is under medical observation.

As per Benita Mary, additional DCP (Southwest) a case of attempt to murder has been registered against Rahul. The cops are also verifying if Neha too was present in the car at the time of the incident.

Sonali's family said Rahul had finally agreed to pay back the money on Friday after delaying payment for a long time. They claimed that she left home to meet him and did not return back home even by 10 pm.

Her father Yoginder Singh said, " Later we got a phone call from a private hospital informing us that she had been shot." He also added that Rahul had requested her for a loan of Rs 2.7 lakh in March to start a business. "Sonali did not think twice about the request and dipped into her savings to manage the amount," said Yoginder.

On reaching the hospital, it was found that her face had bullet injuries and bruises were also found on her limbs. She was in the ICU earlier and later referred to AIIMS.

Sonali later said in her statement that Rahul wanted her to come along with him to Rajokri, where he promised to borrow money from someone and repay her. On their way, they started arguing and Rahul threatened to shoot her. When she unsuccessfully tried to push him away, he shot at her and pushed her out of the Toyota Fortuner car.
Sonali's family members said they have known Rahul for the past 20 years ago.
