Punjab: Farm labourer beaten to death in Tarn Taran

A farm labourer was allegedly beaten to death by his employer in a Jawanda Kalan village of Tarn Taran, Punjab, police sources told India Today.

The victim, identified as Sukhdev Singh (50), was working with the accused farmer Satbir Singh for the last six years.

The victim's nephew Nirvail Singh in a complaint to Sarhali Kalan police station said the accused, Satveer Singh, on Wednesday along with his son Balraj Singh, came to his home around 10 am.

Nirvail Singh said that Satveer Singh blamed Sukhdev Singh of stealing four bags of wheat and forcibly took him with them on a motorcycle, despite Sukhdev denying the allegations.

On Tuesday afternoon the complainant Nirvail Singh received a call from the accused Satbir Singh that Sukhdev was being taken to the hospital as he is not well.

On receiving the call, Nirmal Singh, his cousin Sukhwinder Singh and mother Veer Kaur rushed to the hospital but did not find Sukhdev and Satveer.

Nirvial Singh later found that Sukhdev Singh died and there were serious injuries on his body.

Station House Officer Sarhali Kalan police station, Sikander Singh, said the accused Satbir Singh and his son Balraj Singh, have been booked for murder. However, they are still at large and the investigation is ongoing in the case.
