Officer at Goa naval base booked for molesting domestic help

The victim had earlier lodged a complaint on Wednesday morning at the police station. Meanwhile, Mankandan Nambiar, second-in-command at the INS Hansa, has filed for anticipatory bail.

Officer at Goa naval base booked for molesting domestic help

The Goa Police on Wednesday booked Commodore Mankandan Nambiar, an officer currently posted at the INS Hansa naval base, for allegedly molesting his domestic help

Commenting on the incident, Vasco Police Station senior officer Nolasco Roposo said, "He was booked today and questioning is in progress."

According to the senior officer, 46-year-old Nambiar has been booked under Section 354 (Use of criminal force to woman with intent to outrage modesty), 354A (Sexual Harassment) and Section 354B (Use of criminal force to woman with intent to disrobe) of the Indian Penal Code, reported news agency IANS.

According to the victim, the incident occurred on Tuesday evening at Nambiar's residence. While the officer has filed for anticipatory bail, police sources said Nambiar fell unconscious when he was being questioned by the police and was later taken to a local hospital via ambulance for treatment.

Further details are expected to emerge in the case after a preliminary investigation.
