Jharkhand: Priest asks men to not consume alcohol in temple, killed

55-year-old Ram Sundar Bhuyia, a priest in the Bhangaraja Baba Temple, was allegedly attacked by a man and his friends over alcohol in a village in Jharkhand that led to his death eventually.

A case has been registered in the matter in Vishunupura police station on the basis of the statement that the victim had recorded with the police before he died, the Dainik Bhaskar reported.

The victim was attacked with a knife by the men as he tried to stop them from consuming alcohol and non-vegetarian food inside the temple.

After attacking the priest named Ram Sundar Bhuyia, the accused, Jitu Bhuiyan, left him in the bushes to die. The victim was spotted by some villagers when they visited the temple the next morning.

On finding Ram Sundar in that condition, the villagers immediately informed the police, who rushed him to the nearest hospital.

Ram Sundar die on the way, but before his death, he told the police about the incident and said that the accused, Jitu Bhuiya, who also lived in the same village, attacked him.

The police have registered a case in the incident on the statement of the victim.
