Rajasthan: Doctor, hospital staff gangrape, blackmail nurse with video for a year

Yet another spine-chilling incident of rape and blackmail has emerged from Rajasthan. A nurse of a private hospital in Barmer district was gangraped and blackmailed by three hospital staff, including a doctor for over a year.

According to a report in Dainik Bhaskar, the victim was first drugged by a compounder, who then filmed an obscene video of the victim and later used it to blackmail and rape her.

The victim worked as a nurse in the hospital and she was mostly on night duty.

The victim, who was married, said that one the night when she was resting in a room which was allocated for workers on night duty, her colleague Ashok came to the room with two glasses of juice. After drinking the juice, the victim lost consciousness as the juice was spiked.

Ashok then raped her and made a video of the act. He then used the video to blackmail and rape her multiple times.

A few months later, a doctor working in the same hospital also accompanied the compounder and told the victim that he knows about the video. Dr. Surendra Maharshi threatened the victim that he would make her video viral and raped her.

Doctor's brother also visited the hospital and raped the victim a few days later. All the accused also gangraped the victim multiple times by blackmailing her with the video.

When the victim told the accused that she would inform people of the rape and assault, the doctor threatened to sack her. On August 16, when the victim when to the hospital, Maharshi asked her to leave. The victim then narrated her ordeal to her family members.

The incident was then reported with the police.

The police have initiated probe in the matter and cases have been registered against all accused in the case.
