Assam Lok Sabha election exit poll results 2019 will be declared today

Exit poll results for the Lok Sabha seats in Assam will be announced today at 6:30 pm. The Lok Sabha elections in Assam were held in three phases. There are 14 Lok Sabha seats in Assam.

In 2014 Lok Sabha elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won seven seats while the Congress won three. The remaining seats were won by smaller regional parties in Assam.

The exit poll results will be announced once voting for all 59 Lok Sabha seats of Phase 7 is completed. The Election Commission has said exit polls can be released only after 6:30 pm today.

In Assam, there is a direct contest between the BJP which is in power in the state and the Congress, which had ruled the state for 15 years under the chief ministership of Tarun Gogoi.

Election in Tezpur, Kalibor, Jorhat, Dibrugarh and Lakhimpur Lok Sabha seats were held on April 11 in the first phase.

Five seats went to poll on April 18 in Assam. These were: Karimganj, Silchar, autonomous district, Mangaldoi and Nawgong.

Voting in the remaining seats-- Dhubri, Kokrajhar, Barpeta, Gauhati-was held on April 23 in the third phase.

The schedule for the 2019 Lok Sabha election was announced by the Election Commission of India on March 10. The 542 Lok Sabha seats in the country went to poll in seven phases.

The last phase of the 2019 Lok Sabha election was held today in 59 Lok Sabha constituencies.

Official result of the 2019 Lok Sabha seat will be announced by the Election Commission on May 23.
