Congress veteran leader Digivijaya Singh's rally in Bhopal took a funny turn. He was trying to attack the Bharatiya Janata Party government over its failure to provide jobs but the jibe didn't land as intended.

While Digvijaya Singh wanted the youth of Bhopal to endorse the Opposition's continuing charge of rising unemployment in the country, the youth of Madhya Pradesh's capital or at least one man had a different take on the five years of the Modi government.

A video posted on social media shows a smiling Digvijaya Singh asking the crowds to raise their hands if they received Rs 15 lakh (an amount allegedly promised by PM Modi). "Those who received Rs 15 lakhs in their accounts, raise their hands," Digvijaya Singh says confidently in the video.

When a young man in the audience raised his hand, Digvijaya Singh called him to come to the stage and narrate his account of receiving the mythical sum. "Come, get your account number. We will make sure you receive Rs 15 lakh," said Digvijaya Singh as he beckoned the man in a pink shirt to the stage.

And that is when your average voter managed to trump the senior neta. Sauntering on to the stage, the young man said, "Modi ji killed terrorists by doing surgical strikes." This left Digvijaya Singh, who had been quite vocal in questioning the government on the recent Balakot airstrikes, stumped for just a second.

Watch the hilarious moment here:

At that moment, party workers, wanting to avoid further embarrassment, pushed the youth off stage. Meanwhile, Digvijaya Singh recovered and got back to his charges on the Modi government. As the youth was being pushed off the stage, Digvijaya Singh said, "Did Rs 15 lakh come to you or not? Did you get employment?"

The Congress has fielded former Madhya Pradesh chief minister Digvijaya Singh from the Bhopal Lok Sabha constituency. Bhopal has been a BJP stronghold since 1989. Digvijaya Singh will be squaring off against Malegaon blast accused Sadhvi Pragya, who will be fighting on a BJP ticket.
