BJP's East Delhi candidate Gautam Gambhir has won the East Delhi Lok Sabha constituency seat. He has defeated Congress candidate Arvinder Singh Lovely by 3,91,222 votes.

Tweeting on his lead in East Delhi constituency, Gautam Gambhir tweeted, "Neither it's a 'Lovely' cover drive and nor it is an 'Atishi' ballebaazi. It's just the BJP's 'gambhir' ideology which people have supported. Thanks a lot to all the BJP team-mates for getting this mandate. We won't fail people's choice."

Cricketer-turned-politician Gautam Gambhir, who is making his electoral debut from East Delhi constituency, is locked in a contest with Congress's Arvinder Singh Lovely and AAP's Atishi.

The current trends show that Gambhir is almost certain to win and Harbhajan Singh was one of the first cricketers to congratulate Gambhir on what seems like an inevitable victory for him.

"Congratulations my brother for your win @GautamGambhir. More power to you @BJP4India," Harbhajan wrote on Twitter.

Gambhir was quick to reply on his former teammate's post and even mentioned about Harbhajan's superb performance in the just-concluded Indian Premier League 2019.

Gautam Gambhir himself is a two-time IPL-winning captain with the Kolkata Knight Riders and is the second-most successful skipper in the league after MS Dhoni with 71 victories as compared to Dhoni's 104.
