The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has yet again secured its bastion - Gujarat - and is leading in all 26 Lok Sabha seats in the state.

In the 2017 Gujarat Assembly election, Congress made significant inroads in Gujarat, causing much worry for BJP although the party formed the government in the state. However, two years later, BJP is expected to win all 26 Lok Sabha seats in the state like it had won in 2014 when the Modi wave swept the entire nation.

BJP president Amit Shah made his Lok Sabha election debut with the 2019 elections and contested from the Gandhinagar seat from where former Union minister and veteran BJP leader Lalkrishna Advani had won multiple times in the past.

Till 4.30 pm on Thursday, according to Election Commission data, Amit Shah had secured over 69 per cent of the votes polled and was leading by over 5.5 lakh votes.

Amit Shah's Gandhinagar win could prove to be one of the several big wins BJP will see in the May 23 election results.

According to estimates, Congress will once again fail to secure a single Lok Sabha seat in Gujarat this time as well. Congress had won zero seats in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.

In the 2017 Gujarat assembly elections, BJP had won 99 seats, while Congress had managed to put up significant fight and won 77 assembly seats.

However, BJP seems to have recovered from the assembly election losses.
