The BJP will win a maximum of 26 and a minimum of 25 seats in Gujarat in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the India Today-Axis My India exit poll has revealed.

Congress will win a maximum of one seat. Exit poll numbers showed regional parties will not win a single Lok Sabha seat in Gujarat.

BJP chief Amit Shah and 370 other candidates are in the poll fray in Gujarat where voting for all 26 Lok Sabha seats was held in a single phase on April 23.

Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani on Sunday expressed confidence that the exit poll predictions on the Lok Sabha elections would be reflected in the actual results when they are announced on May 23, even as the opposition Congress insisted it would prefer to wait for the real thing.

BJP had won all the 26 seats in the 2014 elections in Gujarat.

Bypolls in Dhrangadhra, Manavadar, Unjha and Jamnagar (Rural) Assembly seats in the state were also held on April 23. Altogether 45 candidates are contesting from these four seats. The bypolls were necessitated after Congress MLAs in the four seats quit and joined the BJP.

Altogether 51,851 booths were set up to facilitate polling for the Lok Sabha elections in Gujarat.

The state police and central security forces were deployed in large numbers to guard the polling booths.

While Amit Shah is contesting from Gandhinagar Lok Sabha Seat, Union Minister of State for Tribal Affairs Jaswantsinh Bhabhor is the BJP nominee from Dahod seat. Former minister Bharat Solanki of the Congress is contesting from Anand Lok Sabha seat while Leader of Opposition in state Assembly Paresh Dhanani is the party's nominee from Amreli.

The high-octane poll campaign saw Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress chief Rahul Gandhi holding several rallies in the state.

Altogether 902 booths were designated as 'sakhi', which were managed by all-women teams, while 182 booths were managed entirely by the differently-abled staff. A total 2,23,775 personnel, including presiding and polling officers, and micro and sector observers, were appointed for conducting the election process.

Over 44,000 police personnel, 1,095 forest guards, 150 companies of the Central Armed Police Forces, and 12 companies of the State Reserve Police were on duty.

Twenty eight counting centres were set up, one for each Lok Sabha seat, except Anand for which there were two counting centres. A separate counting centre was set up for Jamnagar (rural) Assembly bypoll due to logistical reasons.

Since the model code of conduct came into force, the Gujarat state authorities seized drugs worth Rs 524.34 crore, illicit liquor worth Rs 11.13 crore and bullion worth Rs 9.46 crore, he said. Teams from the Income Tax department, flying squads and surveillance officials also seized Rs 7.59 crore in cash.

There were 186 complaints of poll code violation in the state.
