Election results 2019 West Bengal: TMC wins 22 seats, faces stiff battle from BJP

West Bengal Lok Sabha election result 2019 live: Bengal voted in all seven phases of the Lok Sabha election held between April 11 and May 19 for its 42 parliamentary seats. The BJP made massive gains in the state winning 18 Lok Sabha seats. The ruling TMC won 22 Lok Sabha compared to 34 it had won five years ago.

Dinesh Trivedi loses to Arjun Singh of BJP in Bengal's Barrackpore BJP's Arjun Singh wrested the Barrackpore Lok Sabha seat from Trinamool Congress's Dinesh Trivedi in a fiercely fought poll battle by a margin of 14,857 votes.

Singh bagged 4,72,994 votes, while Trivedi, the former railway minister, could managed 4,58,137 votes.

In Bangaon, which has a sizeable number of Matua votes, BJP's Shantanu Thakur defeated Trinamool Congress's Mamata Thakur by a margin of 1,11,594 votes.

BJP got 6,87,622 votes in the seat, while the Trinamool Congress candidate bagged 5,76,028 votes.

TMC wins 6 seats, leads in 16 Lok Sabha seats

The Trinamool Congress (TMC) has won 6 Lok Sabha seats in West Bengal and is leading in 16. Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has won two seats and also leads in 16. The contest has gone to the wire in Bengal where counting seems to have been delayed due to prior disturbances during polling.
